Abbadia Winery
World famous Terroir
Tuscany is home to some of the world’s most notable wine regions. Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano just to name a few. These wines are primarily made with Sangiovese grapes, the most commonly grown grape variety in Tuscany, Romagna and even Puglia.
Super Tuscans
In the 1970s a new class of wines known as “Super Tuscans” emerged. These wines were produced outside the Italian wine classification system by introducing French Bordeaux grapes to Italy. Many of these Super Tuscans later became cult wines such as Sassicaia or Masseto. For many years, Super Tuscans hat to be marketed as “table wine” (Vino da Tavola) until finally a new Italian quality wine category was created in 1993: Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT) into which they are classified until today.

Organic Principles
Our philosophy is to create high quality grapes while respecting our territory and taking great care of our vineyards. From the very beginning, organic certification has received highest priority: No herbicides or other chemical are used and the few treatments actually performed on the vines are exclusively copper- and sulphur-based. No harm to nature, animals and people is the overriding principle.
Make sure to taste our produce while staying. Should you wish to gain a more in-depth insight into wine making you can choose to join our Vendemmia between September and October where you will experience wine making first-hand.
