Who We Are
David, 51 — economist turned winemaker.
Sarah, 45 — passionate host and nature lover.
And Ruby, 9 — our furry roommate, always chasing the next snack.
We’re Swiss. We found ABBADIA in 2023 — a 200-year-old farmhouse built on the grounds of an ancient abbey, surrounded by vineyards, wildflower meadows, and oak forests, ideally located at the edge of Val d’Orcia, between Pienza and Montepulciano.
We live on-site and host personally, sharing our home, our land, and our time with a maximum of five guest couples at once.
We opened our doors as a B&B in 2024, because it just didn’t feel right to keep this magical place to ourselves.
We’re informal. You’ll see us at the pool, in the vineyards, probably in ripped jeans. We live in the house with you – you’ll glimpse our private spaces. We’re not hiding.
We call everyone by his or her first name – there is no “Sir” and “Madam” here.
We’re curious. Direct. We want to know who’s coming to our home. That’s why we don’t do instant booking – we ask you to write to us first. If it feels right for both sides — we’ll welcome you with open arms.

It’s the handmade terracotta tiles under your bare feet — each one unique, fired by a craftsman in nearby Montefollonico, whose family has worked with clay for four generations.

It’s the sound of silence — no lobby chatter, no noisy pool bars. Just five intimate guest rooms in our 200-year-old farmhouse, built from the stones of a Benedictine abbey from 1109, surrounded by 26 hectares of untouched nature.

1. Just Five Rooms — A true boutique hotel in Tuscany
Many hotels call themselves “boutique,” but with 20 or 30 rooms, true intimacy gets lost.
Our idea of a true boutique hotel in Tuscany is different. We have just five double rooms. That’s it.
Some nights, only two or three rooms will be booked. Which means you might have our entire 26-hectare estate in Val d’Orcia — vineyards, olive groves, sunset terraces — almost entirely to yourselves.
It might not make perfect business sense — but it makes perfect sense to us.
We never wanted to run a place that maximizes bookings. We wanted to create a true retreat — where the only sounds at breakfast are birdsong and the clink of your cappuccino cup.
Where you can wander our vineyards at golden hour without encountering another soul.
That’s real luxury — space, peace, and the beauty of nature.
2. Boho Design That Calms – Natural, Quiet, Intentional
Our rooms aren’t sterile design statements — they’re havens, where Tuscan tradition meets a calm, boho-inspired design language.
The 19th-century Tuscan farmhouse was carefully restored — wooden beams, terracotta floors, thick stone walls that stay cool in summer.
Soft linen fabrics, airy curtains, earthy tones. Handwoven lamps, vintage finds, natural materials.
No plastic, no clutter, no unnecessary décor.
There are no TVs, no minibars, no air-conditioning — by intention. Here, you’re meant to slow down, to breathe again.
Many guests tell us they sleep better here than anywhere else. We believe it’s because there’s nothing competing for your attention. Just candlelight, soft fabrics, gentle colors — and two people together.
3. Luxury You Can Taste – A Boutique Winery in Tuscany
We’re not a B&B next to a winery — we are the boutique-winery.
We produce our own Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese — and our silky green extra-virgin olive oil, all organic.
Every glass of wine you drink at sunset — we harvested those grapes ourselves.
Pressed them. Aged them in the stone cellar beneath your feet.
The olive oil on your crostini? From the trees surrounding your breakfast table, hand-picked each November.
Silent Luxury, for us, means a connection — to the land, the seasons, and the craft.

4. Moments That Stay
We don’t stage experiences — they happen naturally, because this place simply invites them.
Breakfast among the olive trees
Morning sun, dew-fresh grass, a table for two beneath ancient olive trees, simply set. Freshly baked bread, local salami and cheese, fruit from our garden, coffee just the way you like it.
Nothing rushes. No sound except birdsong. Everything feels far away — yet perfectly right. This is how a day begins that truly couldn’t get any better.
Romantic picnics
Some couples have gotten engaged here — unplanned, just because the moment was right.
Tuscan treats, our wine, far views. Sometimes that’s all you need. We serve it wherever it feels like yours – between our vines, at the wildflower fields or at our vantage point offering spectacular views across the rolling hills.
Private sunset dinners
Maybe our ultimate experience, set up in our garden overlooking endless Val d’Orcia views, a decorated table only for two as the sky turns orange, then pink, then purple. Just you, candlelight, a four-course homemade Tuscan meal, sipping our ABBADIA wine while looking over the vineyards that produced the very same wine.
